The brief for the Cardiff series changed slightly to feature a collection of small, square images. I have tried to rework the Cardiff Castle image and pick out the architectural highlights. Pictured below are the main gates from Duke Street with the usual hub-bub of people flocking outside, on their way to work or simply admiring the view.

It feels like I have been working on an illustration of Cardiff Castle for an eternity. (I nearly have been- Christmas, remember that?!) I managed to pull together a full composition over the weekend, it isn’t quite right. This is my progress so far, but I have plans to reduce the left wing and add more Cardiff characters (jousters, police on horseback, runners, dogwalkers and communters) to complete the picture! Sorry it’s taking so long folks, I really hope it will be finished soon :)

I have started a fairly mammoth illustration of Cardiff Castle, which similar to recent work, will have particular colours picked out against black and white. In this case, the earthy tones of blue, green and brown (with a splatter of gold) will be prominent!

The pairing of a well dressed country gent and swooping barn owl (gw di hw) will stand proudly on a turret of Cardiff Castle, the owl becoming the highest point of the picture, other than the clock tower. You can visit the owls inside the Castle, they are tremendously cute.

As the individual elements are so detailed, I thought some of the pieces would work well as prints, which will be available to purchase in my etsy shop shortly.
